Julia
Hi! I’m an IB MYP Biology tutor with a background in life sciences and four years of private tutoring experience. I’m particularly interested in genetics and human biology, so those lessons usually involve plenty of diagrams and real examples. With younger MYP students, I’ve found that learning the terminology is often half the battle. We normally practise explaining an idea aloud before turning it into a clear written scientific answer.

Logan
I’ve been teaching IB MYP Mathematics for six years, mainly working with students who find algebra and geometry harder than they expected. I like using worked examples first, then letting students try a similar problem while I spot where things go wrong. Functions are probably my favourite topic to teach. I also spend time on calculator technique and showing students how to explain their reasoning properly rather than simply reaching an answer.

Zachary
I teach IB MYP Physics and have spent five years helping students get comfortable with the mathematical side of the subject. Forces, energy and electricity come up frequently in my lessons, usually with sketches before equations. I’m not a fan of giving students ten identical questions for homework. I’d rather use three or four carefully chosen problems and discuss why each method works. I also help students improve the way they present calculations and units.

Kaitlyn
Chemistry became much easier for me once I stopped treating it as a subject full of facts to memorise, and that still shapes how I teach it. I’ve tutored IB MYP Chemistry for seven years, with a particular interest in atomic structure, bonding and chemical reactions. My sessions often start with one problem from the previous lesson before moving onto new material. I’m quite methodical, but students are always encouraged to interrupt when something doesn’t make sense.

Olivia
My background is in literature, and I’ve worked with IB MYP English students for just over eight years. A lot of my tutoring involves close reading because students often have good ideas but aren’t sure how to turn them into a convincing paragraph. We might spend part of a lesson looking at one quotation in detail rather than rushing through an entire text. I especially enjoy poetry and short fiction, and I’m happy to debate different interpretations when the evidence supports them.

Andrew
I’m an IB MYP Design tutor with an engineering background and around four years of experience working with secondary students. I enjoy the practical side of the subject, especially when students have to move from a rough idea to something they can actually test. I usually ask plenty of questions about why a design choice was made rather than telling students what to change. We also work on documenting prototypes, evaluating results and making sensible improvements after testing.

Jasper
I’ve worked with IB MYP English students for just over a decade, including several years as a classroom teacher. My main interest is literary analysis, especially helping students move beyond retelling the plot and say something useful about a writer’s choices. I’m quite direct with feedback and normally edit one paragraph closely with a student before asking them to try the next independently. Short stories are my favourite texts to teach.

Edward
Before tutoring, I worked in a university laboratory, which is probably why I like teaching Biology through real examples rather than textbook definitions alone. I now tutor IB MYP students online and have done so for seven years. Genetics and human physiology are the topics I enjoy most. I also spend time on data-based questions because reading graphs and interpreting experiments can make a surprisingly large difference in assessments.
